Transciption and Précis Service

Our Expertise

Our familiarity with the nuances of the legal system, expertise in palaeography (handwriting) and professional skills in interpreting legal documents means that we are ideally suited to the research of legal records.

Conveyancing Documentation

Anyone familiar with written documents that predate 1900 will be aware that the handwriting and letter-forms are very different from those of the present day alphabet. Likewise, the terminology and contemporary meanings of words may be difficult to understand.

Please note:

Although the English language is more common in informal documents from the late fifteenth century, Latin was used in formal records and many court records until 1733 (except during the Interregnum, 1640-1660). We are not currently able to offer a research and transcription service for documents written in Latin, although digital images or copies may be obtained.
