Criminal Court Records

Our understanding of the criminal court processes and procedures allows us to navigate our way through the judicial archives on your behalf.

Many records from the Assize or Crown Court and prison system are held at The National Archives, while records from the Quarter Session or Magistrates’ Courts are held at local record centres.

Many criminal activities, particularly theft, are associated with the poorest members of the community who may also have been recipients of poor relief. We are able to assist in researching parish records in order to trace individuals granted relief, members of a community who contributed to the poor rate, and those responsible for its administration.
